Our target
We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA. That target also covers the Guidelines for Indian Government Websites (GIGW 3.0), which reference WCAG 2.1 AA, and aligns with expectations under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016.
What that means in practice on this site:
- every page works with a keyboard alone;
- every interactive element has a visible focus ring;
- colour is never the only way information is conveyed — status chips carry text, the Dignity Bar uses fill and hatch, and errors carry an icon and a message;
- the site works with JavaScript disabled, including navigation, the FAQ, the footer and both forms;
- all motion stops when your device asks for reduced motion;
- text resizes to 200% and the layout reflows at 320px.
Known limitations
We would rather list these than let you discover them:
- Manual screen-reader testing with NVDA, VoiceOver and TalkBack has not yet been completed.
- Photographs have not been added yet, so their alternative text has not been written or reviewed.
- Several sections — the Wall of Dignity, the Gallery, News — are empty pending real content, and their populated states have not been tested with assistive technology.
